Sometimes we get too comfortable. Complacent. Stuck in a rut. Bored.
We let this happen for a number of reasons. Change can be scary. Change can require us to think harder. Change can take time. It’s easier to cook the same handful of meals we know how to cook than to seek out and learn new recipes. It’s easier to work on the same types of projects with the same people than to learn new skills or forge new working relationships. It’s easier to do the same workout routine every week than challenge the body to something different.
But alas, easier can be boring. And it can mean that we aren’t the best version of ourselves. Sometimes we need to mix things up just to see what we’re capable of.
So, for this week’s writing prompt, consider this question: In what ways should I be mixing things up?
Maybe it’s at home, at work, at the gym, in the kitchen. But if you feel like you’re stuck in a rut, too comfortable or even full-on bored, now is the time to think about simple changes to push yourself. Let yourself get uncomfortable. Try new things. Get creative. Embrace all that life has to offer.
Now, go write and mix it up.
