I have things to say. Lots and lots of things. And I need to be heard. So, I write.
Some people speak eloquently. I am not one of those people. So, I write.
Since childhood, I’ve loved the written word. (Even as a 6-year-old, I never took the shortcut on an assignment.) And I continue to write.
Writing is one of those things that anyone can do — and we all must do in some capacity. But not everyone is a writer. If you’ve been tuning in to the Wednesday Writing Prompt series, you’re probably not a casual writer. You’re a wordsmith, a lover of language, someone who needs to be heard. And you strive to get better.
Sometimes we can sucked into our work and the day-the-day and lose track of why we wanted to write in the first place. So, this week’s writing prompt is aimed at re-focusing.
This week’s writing prompt is: Why do you write?
Consider your purpose, your goals, whether it’s a professional responsibility or a personal passion. Why do you reflect on writing prompt questions in the middle of the week even if your boss didn’t tell you to? What is it that you want to say?
Like I need to tell you — because you are a writer — but: Go write.
