You know the drill for the Wednesday Writing Prompts. We’re trying to drive creativity, give ourselves (just a little) time to think and have a little fun. But I think we’ve been a little light on the fun in recent weeks. So, this week, I encourage you to just have some fun.
This week’s writing prompt is quite simple — yet really challenging.
And here it is: What is your favorite word, and why?
Give yourself five to 10 minutes to think and another 10 to write. What is it that you like about your word? Is it the sound it makes? Its versatility? A memory it conjures? A song it reminds you of? Its meaning?
Here’s why I like this exercise: It makes us think about words, how we choose them and how we use them. Plus, for every writer out there, I’m almost certain I’d hear a different response to this question.
So, grab your paper journal or Word document — and go write.
And if you’re feelin’ it, tell us your word in the comments or on our Facebook page.
